About the Build

Another day and we have another open to share with you! We built this one for a local rider recently and he absolutely loves it!

The Wide frame is similar to the UP that you’ve seen us build but it has even more room for larger tires (700 x 46 or 650 x 2.4″). You will find the same lightweight design and confidence inspiring geometry that Open bikes are known for. You’ll also notice the double drop chainstay… this allows you to use a normal road crank while retaining ability to run large tires. Want to carry more stuff? The underside of downtube has spacing for two cages! Another thing we love about this bike is the 27.2 seatpost, providing compliance during rough rides.

We built this hot ride up with Shimano GRX, Zipp 303s wheels, and Zipp cockpit. Zipp G40 tires were chose for their ability to roll fast and keep things upright on the loosest of gravel roads. A ceramic speed bottom bracket was a nice addition allowing for the easiest pedaling possible.
