The first generation of Kona Process bikes have been extremely popular with our customers, riders loved how playful they are. Simply put it was a bike that was a ton of fun. We have been anxious to see a carbon version released and the time has finally come! The new carbon process has a new look yet it retains the same fun characteristics as the original. The frame went from a horizontal mounted shock, swing-link style suspension to vertical mounted, rocker link design. This allows for use of a water bottle which is a nice change.

Increased pedaling efficiency was a goal for the new Process, they wanted a bike that pedals well all the time even in open position. The new bikes see a raised main pivot compared to their predecessors in order to up anti-squat characteristics for better on-power feel, and a leverage curve that’s more progressive overall while also getting an almost regressive hump near the top of the travel. At 30% sag, you sit at the top of the progressive component of the leverage curve, this provides traction without that annoying wallow-y feeling.

If you want a bike that goes up efficiently and still descends like an animal, this is the bike for you! The all new carbon Process 153 is stiff, smooth, and an absolute rocket on the downhills as I have been finding on the trails here and in the mountains of NC. SRAM X01 Eagle drivetrain and Guide RSC brakes, a RockShox Lyrik RCT3 fork and Super Deluxe RCT shock, and tubeless-ready 3C Maxxis Minions leave nothing to be desired… except another lap, of course.
